Director, Radiation Oncology

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Director of Radiation Oncology to join our UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Summary

Directs and administers the operation of the Radiation Oncology area to include management of staff; development and implementation of policies and procedures, program development and implementation, management of budgets and day to day administration.

Minimum Job Requirements of a Director of Radiation Oncology:

Masters degree in a relevant field such as management, healthcare or business administration, radiation therapy, radiologic science OR Graduation from an AMA approved school of radiation therapy technology. (Additional information for grading purposes: Experience in business planning and budgetary and personnel management (minimum five [5] years) supervising 10 or more employees. Demonstrated teamwork skills. Knowledge and use of C.Q.I. principles. Administrative management of a clinical department in an acute care hospital). Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety and protection regulations; relevant local, State and Federal laws and regulations; radiation therapy technology and associated equipment; radiation oncology including the medical, psychological and sociological aspects, as well as associated data systems. Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors). Technical certificate by the state of New Mexico and American Registry of Radiologic Technicians (ARRT). Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Director of Radiation Oncology:

  1. Assures quality patient care at all locations at which radiation oncology services are rendered. This includes meeting all regulatory agency standards, as well as standards set by the Department Quality Management Plan.
  2. Manages all business, administrative, technical and through the Clinical Supervisor clinical operations/services; ensures that quality, patient care, access, financial and business goals/objectives are achieved.
  3. Meeting clinical, performance and strategic service standards and measures, developing and monitoring a department quality of service plan, implementing staff development and ensuring service competency of staff.
  4. In conjunction with Chief Physician and Assistant Medical Group Administrator: plans, develops, and evaluates/improves systems, processes and protocols for the delivery of radiation/oncology services in keeping with service, value, quality, cost and access standards/goals.
  5. Promotes and maintains physician and administrative partnerships, managing change effectively, and establishing collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff and physicians.
  6. Delineating clear expectations and standards for personnel supervised; restructuring services and workforce to maintain or increase productivity and quality; resolving employee problems and supporting the needs of staff to function as a committed, high performance team.
  7. Identifies and implements strategies to reduce and/or manage costs and improve service effectiveness and productivity. Accountable for compliance/adherence to JCAHO, local, state and federal rules, regulations, standards and legislation regarding radiation.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

This position will be located at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC). The UNMCCC is seeking an innovative and experienced Director to lead and optimize operations for our Radiation Oncology Department.
