Health Education Coordinator - Truman

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Health Education Coordinator to join our Truman Health Services team. This opportunity is a full-time, day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Minimum $45,427 - Midpoint $56,763*

*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.

*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.

Summary

Under general supervision, provides services relating to health education, health promotion, and disease identification and prevention. Conducts prevention intervention programs and shares responsibility for maintaining, enhancing and presenting health information and resources related to HIV/HCV and other relevant health issues. Performs a range of administrative functions required to ensure efficient program operation.

Minimum Job Requirements of a Health Education Coordinator:

High School diploma or GED with 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure will be required if selected for hire.

Required License:

  • Possession of a valid unrestricted NM driver's license.

Please note: You will be asked to create a 5–8 minute presentation on HIV. This presentation can take any medium, source, content, and presentation style that you are inspired by, as long as it is pertinent to HIV. You will be asked to give your short presentation to the interview panel if you are selected to move forward after the phone screening.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Health Education Coordinator:

  1. Plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion/disease prevention programs for clinic(s), school(s) and/or community in assigned area(s) including workshops, trainings, conferences, health campaigns, health fairs, and school or community presentations.
  2. Prepare and distribute health education materials, including reports, bulletins, and visual aids such as films, videotapes, photographs, and posters.
  3. Organize and/or assist with special events and outreach events, including planning, design, facilitation, promotion, and coordination.
  4. Provides clear, understandable, current, and accurate health related information and education to clients; provide information, education and referrals in a way that demonstrates respect, active listening skills, empathy, and patience.
  5. Assess high-risk individuals and assist them in decreasing their risk for identified health concerns using the stages of change model.
  6. Follow all standard protocols and processes when performing point of care tests and confirmatory testing.
  7. Communicate point of care testing results to individuals and their support system, as requested by the individual tested.
  8. Provide harm reduction services, risk reduction counseling and community resources to prevent transmission of disease, including syringe services.
  9. Perform various administrative duties related to department programs.
  10. Maintain professional growth and development through completion of required departmental competencies.
  11. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
