The UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring a Director, Behavioral Health Services. This opportunity is a Monday-Friday day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This position will include 0.3-0.5 FTE administrative time plus additional clinical time of up to 1.0FTE, if desired.
Minimum $107,598 - Midpoint $137,113*
*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.
Summary:
In collaboration with leadership, plans, organizes, and manages the day-to-day integrated clinical
activities of assigned ambulatory clinic(s). Develops and implements strategies, policies,
protocols, and systems that improve operational productivity, efficiency, and customer service of
assigned area. Adheres to and promotes the core expectations of the clinic’s operational model(s).
Plans, develops and implements all clinical expansions related to behavioral health services,
including mental health and substance use disorders, as they pertain to new service lines and/or
locations. Serves as a member of assigned area’s management team; participates in decision-making
related to organizational operations, strategies, and goals, and implements and enforces operating
policies, procedures, and standards. Provide clinical behavioral health services to patients.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Director, Behavioral Health Services:
Doctorate or terminal degree in Psychology, and completion of Pre-doctoral Clinical Internship; at
least 7 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
State of NM Licensed Psychologist, or eligibility for NM licensure, as documented by out-of-state
licensure. Verification of education and licensure will be required if selected for hire.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Director, Behavioral Health Services:
1. Plans, organizes, and manages integrated clinical operations ensuring the maintenance and parity
of day-to-day behavioral health operations and ensures the continuity of exceptional customer
service among patients, staff, and health care providers.
2. Manages daily behavioral health operations including establishing work priorities, overseeing
workflow, assisting in the resolution of issues including patient concerns, and ensuring that the
practices of the clinic follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures,
accreditation standards and requirements.
3. Analyzes practice management reports to identify practice patterns and issues that are utilized
for problem resolution.
4. Supervises and trains staff in performance of programmatic and administrative activities, as
appropriate to the position; interacts with and guides clinic personnel in the enhancement of
operating efficiency and improvement of responsiveness to patients.
5. Participates in development and management of operating budgets and ensures that the fiscal
practices of assigned areas follow appropriate policies and procedures.
6. Provides direct supervision; responsible for hiring, clinic orientation, scheduling, discipline,
performance evaluations, training, work allocation, staff competencies, and problem resolution.
7. Collaborates with appropriate departments to optimize behavioral health billing and collections.
8. Works with quality team to implement best practices in quality process for behavioral health
services offered.
9. Diagnoses or evaluates mental, emotional and substance use disorders of individuals and
administers programs of treatment, interviews patients in clinics, hospitals, and other settings
and studies medical and social case histories.
10. Treats psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments utilizing various psychological
techniques; selects appropriate treatment approach and plans frequency, intensity, and duration of
individual, group, and family therapies.
11. Conducts individual therapy programs and performs a range of direct assessment, diagnosis,
treatment, and crisis intervention for individual patients, groups, and families.
12. Documents and/or oversees the documentation of therapy in accordance with policies and
procedures regarding medical records; implements and adheres to policies which ensure patient
confidentiality.
13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
