Outpatient Clinic RN - Primary care

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Outpatient Clinic RN to join our Primary Care Clinic. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Minimum $61,152 - Midpoint $76,481*

*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.

*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the clinic Practice Manager and the clinic Medical Director, provide direct care to patients by collecting patient data and/or medical histories, registers patients, and provides administrative services such as coordinating and scheduling appointments and verifying medical coverage. Establish and provide safe direct patient care, utilizing established nursing processes in an ambulatory setting; ensures adherence to all standards, infection prevention and organizational policies, procedures and guidelines. Establishes goals and priorities in accordance with male, female and adolescent patient and staff needs and organizational objectives.

Minimum Job Requirements of an Outpatient Clinic Registered Nurse:

Associate degree in nursing with 1 year of nursing experience. Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities of an Outpatient Clinic Registered Nurse:

  1. Provides specialized nursing services. Assesses patients' conditions and nursing needs; sets goals, plans and implements care within scope of medical protocols, assuring that all medical care is documented, and medical records are accurate and complete.
  2. Reports and records pertinent observations regarding patients to medical staff, administers medications, and performs routine treatments, and assists physicians with tests and complex procedures and treatments.
  3. Serves as a liaison between physician and patients and other staff by assisting with educational needs, problem resolution and health management.
  4. Serves as a clinical resource, ensuring quality patient care that meets national and quality standards.
  5. Assists in the development of emergency measures for adverse developments in patients.
  6. Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff and clinic management in the planning and implementation of patient and staff education.
  7. May participate in the orientation, training and evaluation of new staff.
  8. Educates patient care staff in the use and maintenance of new equipment, supplies and instruments; coordinates in-service training; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  9. May process data and generate reports, assist in the reception and discharge areas as required, and handle patient calls.
  10. Interacts with clinic staff, managers, physicians and other patient care providers regarding documentation policies, procedures and regulations; obtains clarification of conflicting or non-specific documentation as well as when additional documentation or signatures are required.
  11. Establishes internal and external outreach programs designed to improve health care outcomes and clinic visibility.
  12. Designs or participates in the creation of health education materials.
  13. Creates collaborative relationships with community and state agencies in an effort to maximize resources.
  14. Represents any/all UNMMG clinics at health fairs or community events providing information and services to promote the clinics to other professionals as well as the general public.
  15. Will facilitate the Point of Care Testing Advisory Committee for UNMMG.
  16. Coordinate quality initiatives and activities and assist with the development of written standards and protocols.
  17. Serves as a resource and coach for Quality Assurance Projects in the Clinics.
  18. Serves as a resource and participates in any compliance issues or initiatives.
  19. Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

UNM Medical Group has opened a new Primary Care Clinic for the Rio Rancho community in the summer of 2021. The UNM Health Grande Clinic focuses on providing the local community their non-emergency medical needs.
