Compliance Provider Educator

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Compliance Provider Educator to join our Compliance Department. This opportunity is a REMOTE, full-time, day shift opening located in New Mexico.

*This is a work from home position that requires the selected candidate to have a permanent address and live in New Mexico or be willing to relocate to New Mexico*

Minimum $61,776 - Midpoint $77,251*

*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.

*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.

Summary:

Establishes and manages integrated training and development strategies and programs for practice physicians employed throughout the UNM Health System. Develops and implements strategic needs analyses and training plans for the organization; coordinates and evaluates curriculum development and conducts the preparation and delivery of training. Oversees all program development, fiscal management, and administrative aspects of the activity, to include development, technical coordination, and management of internal and/or external professional training and development and support staff. Provides guidance and leadership to coding and billing management in the implementation and administration of effective systems, processes, and procedures.

Minimum Job Requirements for a Medical Coding Analyst Auditor - Educator:

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Must be a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) and CPMA (Certified Professional Medical Auditor) or certificate eligible to pass CPMA within 12 months of employment. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities for a Compliance Provider Educator:

  1. Provides consultation, leadership, and expertise to internal management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of coding education for providers.
  2. Assesses the educational needs of management and providers and develops programs or researches educational resources to meet those needs.
  3. Develops all training materials and coding aids for both formal training and use by providers in daily work.
  4. Identifies and evaluates innovative educational methodology that may be appropriate for the targeted audience; incorporates new methodology as appropriate to enhance and update the effectiveness of education and skills development programs.
  5. Conducts specialized training in coding and related billing issues; helps identify and document appropriate codes and procedures for billing, as appropriate.
  6. Serves as a technical resource for all involved personnel; ensures that information is accurate and current, meeting professional coding standards.
  7. Assist Medical Coding Auditors in educating providers for documentation improvement.
