Physician/Medical Director - Part-Time or Full-Time

The UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Physician/Medical Director to join our Center for Life Clinic. This opportunity is a part-time to full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are open to a schedule of 3-5 days a week, 0.5-1.0FTE. The Center is a prevention and wellness based health care facility which focuses on integrative health care. The Physician/Medical Director will work closely with chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists.

Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician/Medical Director to join our healthcare team. As a Physician/Medical Director, you will provide comprehensive medical care to patients, diagnose illnesses, and develop treatment plans to promote optimal health. You will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care and contribute to the overall success of our medical facility.



Minimum Qualifications of a Physician/Medical Director:


-MD or DO with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board Certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.


- Board certification in a specialized field (e.g., internal medicine, family medicine) and Integrative Medicine fellowship and board certification or eligible in Integrative Medicine is required.


- Proven experience as a Physician, with a strong track record of clinical excellence.
- Extensive knowledge of medical procedures, diagnostic tests, and pharmaceuticals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other relevant medical software.



Duties and Responsibilities of a Physician/Medical Director:


- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history reviews and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and medical evidence.
- Prescribe medications and perform necessary medical procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and allied health staff, to deliver coordinated and effective patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
- Adhere to medical ethics and legal standards to ensure patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Stay abreast of advancements in medical knowledge and treatment options through continuing education and professional development.

Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine works with conventional approach's to optimize healing. This healing-oriented practice focuses on the whole person—from factors that influence wellness to lifestyle habits. Integrative medicine modifies conventional approaches for optimal healing.

Traditional Chinese medicine views disease as a result of an imbalance or blockage of Qi flow. Acupuncture is a method of balancing and building the body's life forces which flow through pathways in the body called meridians. Thin, sterile, stainless steel needles are inserted into specific points along meridians to disperse the blockage and/or mobilize the body's natural immune response.

Chiropractic Medicine

The diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine, joints and soft tissue.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is beneficial for many chronic conditions. Massaging the soft tissues can increase blood and oxygen flow to the massaged areas to warm them and decrease pain. It is often part of prescribed physical therapy and physical rehabilitation to:

  • Treat medical conditions
