UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Junior Accountant to join our Finance team. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Minimum $46,779 - Midpoint $58,479*
*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
Summary
Under limited supervision, is responsible for reconciling fundamental general ledger accounts and posting routine journal entries to support Staff Accountants. Performs advanced accounting functions while adhering to strict deadlines. Enforces financial policies and procedures related to cash handling, procurement, fixed assets, and inventory controls through routine internal control reviews. Analyzes financial processes and provides recommendations for improvement to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Junior Accountant:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
Experience
- 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degrees from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Junior Accountant:
1. Prepares and inputs financial data into finance and subsidiary systems and posts routine journal entries into the general ledger.
2. Performs unannounced cash observations and performs inventory observations to ensure assets are accurately reflected in the subsidiary ledger and appropriately safeguarded.
3. Provides input and assistance in the development and implementation of mechanisms and controls to ensure appropriate Finance processes, accurate vendor reporting, and maintenance of appropriate records.
4. Assists in the oversight of the UNMMG Procurement Card program to include reconciliations, proper approvals, and appropriate documentation retention.
5. Prepares and maintains required records, files, and reports for Finance activities, as needed.
6. Assists with developing Finance training guides and conducting trainings.
7.May lead or participate in various finance initiatives that support the overall organization.
8. Performs monthly analysis and reconciliations to support accounting staff to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
9. Assists in the oversight of external locums cycle, including timely confirmation letter process, various tracking mechanisms to ensure appropriate reimbursement by affiliates, interaction with respective vendors for billing inquiries, and monthly reporting.
