Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis to join our Financial Planning team. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Summary:

Under the guidance of the Senior Director, Financial Reporting Systems, manages and oversees strategic, broad-impact financial analysis, reporting, and systems development for a major, multi-unit operating entity of the university. Leads and coordinates the design and implementation of financial/accounting/budget systems and reports. Develops and delivers financial and business training programs, as appropriate.  Supervises a team of Financial Analysts and associated support staff.

Minimum Job Requirements of a Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis:

Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Verification of education and licensure will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis:

  1. Oversees reporting and analytics meant to provide management the information needed to make financial business decisions.
  2. Identifies relevant datasets and prepares custom or standard reports. Contributes analysis in the areas of liquidity, costing, and regulatory reporting.
  3. Assists cross-functional units on matters involving product pricing, overhead distribution, inventory rollover, cost determination, and other financial metrics.
  4. Analyzes and interprets financial plans, budgets, profit and loss statements, or other financial documents. Identifies financial trends and reports on the organization's financial position and performance relative to expectation.
  5. Researches broader economic conditions and incorporates findings into financial models.
  6. Supervises personnel which typically includes work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls as well as problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  7. Compiles and analyzes financial information from all components of the organizational entity, and develops integrated revenue/expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations.
  8. Coordinates, compiles, and analyzes annual financial statements for the organization and its component units, utilizing complex spreadsheet and database applications.
  9. Collaborates with and coordinates all components of the organization to ensure consistent reporting and adherence to federal and state financial reporting regulations and guidelines, and conformity with university fiscal policies and procedures.
  10. Analyzes, designs, documents, and implements internal financial reporting systems and procedures for the organization or business entity.
  11. Designs, coordinates, and implements training programs for personnel within the organization and its components regarding the nature and application operating policies and procedures.
  12. Provides leadership, administrative management, and operational coordination to various technical, professional, and/or administrative personnel engaged in specified project activities, as appropriate to the position.
  13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
